tarte Rainforest of the Sea Review and Swatches

One of the perks of attending IMATS is that you may be able to get your hands on products before they are released.

This year I picked up two items from tarte's Spring 2016 line, Rainforest of the Sea.

I picked up the eyeshadow palette which is simply named eyeshadow palette. Or bet yet, Rainforest of the Sea Eyeshadow Palette.

I picked up the Rainforest of the Sea Lighting Palette (Highlighter Palette) known as Skin Twinkle.

Here they are pictured with and without flash.

The eyeshadow palette contains 8 shades.

They are all neutral shades.

They are shimmer and matte, though the majority of the palette contains shimmer shades.

It appears that there are two matte shades, which are Sand and Cove.

The other 6 shades are shimmers.

Swatches left to right on bare skin in lighting - Sand, Mermaid, Seashell, Wave, Abyss, Reef, Starfish, and Cove.

Same swatches, different angle

Same swatches with flash

The Skin Twinkle Palette contains three highlighters.

Two of them are shimmer (the larger highlighters) and one is matte.

Swatches from top to bottom on my bare arm in lighting - Sunlight, Filtered Light, and Moonlight

Same swatches, different angle

Same swatches, close-up

The tarte Rainforest of the Sea collection is very pretty.

It is great for everyday wear.

The eyeshadows seem to be a different formula from the Amazonian Clay eyeshadows that we are used to.

They are buttery smooth and glide on when applied.

They are pigmented and contain a good range of neutral shades.

The Skin Twinkle Palette has two highlighters that are simply beautiful and very flattering when applied.

The only dud for me is Filtered Light. It is a matte highlighter that doesn't really show up on my fair skin tone.

I guess it can be used to blend out your highlighter, contour, or blush.

The eyeshadow palette is $34 and the Skin Twinkle Palette is $42.

They are from the Spring 2016 collection, product pictures are up online at for VIB and VIB Rouge members and should be released soon and then available to everyone not long after.

If you plan on purchasing them online don't forget to use Ebates to earn free cash, Sephora is currently 4% cash back.

Here is my referral link,

If you already have an Ebates account, here is the direct link on Sephora's website to the collection
