BH Cosmetics Carli Bybel Palette Review and Swatches

One of the most beautiful palettes that I have ever seen has to be the BH Cosmetics Carli Bybel Palette.

If you have seen it, I am sure you would agree.

The kicker too is that besides being beyond gorgeous is it insanely affordable at $12.50.

The only problem is that it is always sold out.

Only by pure luck was I able to get mine when it was first released.

I actually went on BH's website 15 minutes before it was released (actually I had logged into my account prior to that so I would be prepared. Once I was able to add it to my cart, I could just check out).

When I looked the palette up I was able to add it to my cart, this is what I did without hesitation (so fast in fact that I didn't even go through Ebates).

After I placed my order, I thought I might as well order another one to give as a gift.

Yeah, that was wishful thinking.

I spent hours trying to purchase another which even lasted until the next evening when it was finally listed as out of stock.

The palette has restocked only once since then and the ability to be able to order it is based on the order you submitted your email address to be notified of the restock.

It is once again sold out so I can imagine that not everyone on the waitlist has been able to order.

I know because I am one of those.

Hopefully it will restock again soon so that everyone who wants this beauty is able to get their hands on it.

The Carli Bybel Eyeshadow and Highlighter Palette contains 14 shades.

10 are eyeshadows and the other 4 are highlighters (which could also be used as eyeshadows).

Below are the swatches of the eyeshadows from left to right and from the 1st to 2nd row.

The Carli Bybel Palette is gorgeous palette without a doubt!

The shadows and highlighters have good pigmentation and blend easily.

I have noticed that the mattes can disappear with too much blending and that by the end of the day they have faded slightly.

The shimmers are more pigmented than the mattes, which is usually always the case.

The palette is very affordable at $12.50.

The problem with this palette is that it is always sold out, so it is hard to get your hands on it.

Overall, I think it is a good palette for the price that you pay.

The eyeshadows in my opinion are not the best out there.

The highlighters alone are reason enough to pick up the palette.

What do you think of the BH Cosmetics Carli Bybel Palette?

Have you gotten yours or are you anxiously awaiting a restock?

JEM and The Holograms Truly Outrageous Lipstick Swatches

Jem is Truly Outrageous,

Truly, Truly, Truly Outrageous

and so is the Jem Lipstick.

I guess that is because it is called the Truly Outrageous Lipstick.

My Jem and The Holograms Truly Outrageous Lipstick arrived last week.

Here is a look at the lipstick tube.

It is a bright pink adorned with hologram lightning bolts as well as a black lighting bolt and Sephora in black lettering.

A close look at the lipstick itself.

At first it looks like a regular bright pink lipstick, but rest assured it is anything but that.

The Jem and The Holograms Truly Outrageous Lipstick is an iridescent fluorescent pink lipstick.

The iridescence appears to be purple and blue giving the assumption that it would look like a party on the lips, but it really looks more subtle.

Here is a swatch in natural lighting.

A close up swatch with flash which allows you to see the iridescence.

This lipstick is giving me life and is making me want to go run out and see the movie, but that would require getting dressed and making myself presentable, which probably won't happen on this Sunday afternoon.

Did you pick up the JEM and The Holograms Truly Outrageous Lipstick? Thoughts?

Anastasia Beverly Hills Self-Made Palette Review and Swatches

The Anastasia Beverly Hills Self-Made Palette has to be my favorite palette from Anastasia Beverly Hills.

It is described as being the ultimate makeup artist's palette.

The packaging is very elegant with its black and gold color combo.

The inside of the palette is even more impressive!

Look at these shadows, they are so gorgeous and come in a wide variety of colors.

There are neutral shades, dark shades, and even pop of color shades.

Some of the shades are shimmer, some matte, some satin, some titanium, some metallic, some duochrome, some sparkle, some velvet, and some ultra matte (I had no idea there were so many different types of finishes).

The wide range of finishes makes this palette even more appealing.

Below are descriptions of the shades in the Self-Made Palette:

  1. Pink Champagne (My favorite eyeshadow ever, which has replaced Stila's Kitten) - Rose gold, titanium finish.
  2. Metallic Plum- Dark plum, metallic finish
  3. Self-Made - Deep bronze, satin finish
  4. Witchy - Khaki gray, sparkle finish
  5. Blush - Light beige, duochrome finish
  6. Blossom - Lilac pink, metallic finish
  7. Buttery - Beige, ultra-matte finish
  8. Deep purple - Amethyst purple, titanium finish
  9. Treasure - Champagne, metallic finish
  10. Hot & Cold - Rum brown, metallic finish
  11. Sherbert - Light peach, velvet finish
  12. Isla - Sea Foam green, duochrome gold finish
  13. Spirit Rock - Galaxy black, sparkle finish
  14. Hot Chocolate, Cocoa brown, ultra-matte finish

Swatches - 1st row, left to right in natural light - Pink Champagne, Metallic Plum, Self-Made, Witchy, Blush, Blossom, and Buttery

My favorite shades from the Self-Made Palette are Pink Champagne, Self-Made, Hot & Cold, and Isla.

My Review:

I love that the eyeshadows come in a variety of shades and finishes.

You can create many different looks with this palette, ranging from every neutral to night time going out looks.

It contains Pink Champagne which is only the best eyeshadow ever!

The shadows are smooth and easy to blend.

There was some fallout with the shadows which can be avoided if you tap your brush before applying the shadows to your eyes.

The few mattes in the palette had good pigmentation.

I created two looks last week with these shadows and they lasted all day, no creasing and they were still vibrant.

Overall I am happy with this palette, you get 14 eyeshadows for $35.

The Self-Made Palette is currently only available online on the Anastasia Beverly Hills website, but look for it soon at Sephora, Ulta, and other retailers that carry Anastasia Beverly Hills.

MAC Oh, Darling Review and Swatches

Last weekend we saw the first round of releases from the MAC Holiday Collection for 2015 called Magic of the Night.

There was one item that hands down was the star of that release and it has to be the Oh, Darling Extra Dimension Skinfinish.

It is so gorgeous that you can't even use the word gorgeous to describe it. There has to be a better word.

It is the goddess of all highlighters.

It is described as a metallic gold. Even that description seems flat.

It should say something like an explosion of gold drenched greatness.

It truly is a sight to behold.

I love how when you photograph it in the light you get the blue reflection from the packaging.

Without flash it can appear almost like a bronze, but with flash lookout! It is a stunning gold.

I love it so much that I took so many pictures of it in an attempt to capture its greatness, which I have to say was hard to do.

The picture below is swatched in direct sunlight.

Another in direct sunlight

and another...

This one is in natural lighting.

Natural lighting with flash.

Natural lighting closeup.

Another shot in natural lighting.

and another...

and one more with my Starbucks Crown Tumbler.

See what I mean when I say that it is hard to capture its stunning beauty?

You can definitely tell from all of the swatches that the color is saturated.

It retails for $33 and is currently sold out everywhere.

It was available at MAC online, Macy's, Nordstrom, and Dillard's.

You may still be able to track one down in MAC stores (though it might be highly doubtful, but not impossible).

The only other place you can currently get your hands on it is on eBay and the prices are highly inflated with them ranging from $57 to $250.00.

If you weren't able to get it when it was released and you really have your heart set on it, I would recommend stalking the websites above.

It is a limited edition holiday item, but there have been times when items like this have been restocked.

I wore it last night for about 8 hours and I could still see it on my face when I got ready to remove my makeup.

It is pigmented and long lasting as well as beautiful.

It gives a nice golden glow to the skin.

Do you own the MAC Oh, Darling Extra Dimension Skinfinish? What are your thoughts on it?

E.l.f. Studio Illuminating Palette

e.l.f. has hopped on the strobing bandwagon.

They have created a highlighter palette called the e.l.f. Studio Illuminating Palette.

From the picture it looks gorgeous.

It comes with 4 highlighters and comes in the same 4 square palette as their blush and contour palettes.

From the picture of the palette, it looks like there is an ivory, a beige, a pink, and a peach.

The palette is $6 and is available online on e.l.f.'s website via the link below.

I was curious to see how the quality of these highlighters would be so I ordered one today.

I will have a blogpost in the next couple of weeks with a review and swatches.

Are you going to pick up an e.l.f. Illuminating Palette?
