Pastel Matte

I love pastels. The colors are so pretty. They remind me of Easter and Marie Antoinette. Think baby pinks, mint greens, and lavender.

When I decided that I was going to do a pastel look I was wondering which palette would contain the colors that I needed to create this look. This way I am not fumbling through multiple palettes to try and put this look together. I decided on using my BH Cosmetics 120 Palette, 3rd edition. As you can see from the picture below the top layer of the palette really is comprised of pastel colors. The bottom layer which isn't pictured contains neutrals and colors perfect for a smoky eye.

Even though I love pastel colors I knew that this look would be a little hard for me to create. The reason is that I love vibrant colors and shimmers and of course pastels are going to be a lot lighter. I knew that I was going to have to really pack the colors on because of them being pastel in nature and because they are matte shades which are also not as pigmented.

Overall I think the look turned out pretty and is highly wearable for Spring.

Here is how I created this look:

First I applied my foundation, concealer, powder, and blush. This always seems to be easier than applying my eye make up first. On a side note I didn't notice any fallout with the matte eyeshadows that I was using.

Next I applied Too Faced Shadow Insurance all over my lid and under my eye.

I then applied my eye base of NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk.

Now taking my BH Cosmetics 120 Palette, 3rd Edition I applied a light skin tone matte (1st row, 1st color) and over  my eye from lash line to brow bone.

Then I took a light baby pink matte (2nd row, 5th color) and applied it to the first third of my lid.

I placed a light purple matte (3rd row, 6th color) in the center of my lid.

Next I placed a light green matte (3rd row, 7th color) on the outer part of my lid.

Finally I took a light orange matte (3rd row, 4th color) in the crease.

Then I blended, blended, blended.

Touched up the eyeshadows again.

Then I lined under my eyes with a LA Colors Jumbo Eye Pencil in Cherry Blossom (shimmery pink).

I lined the of my lid with a BH Cosmetics Gel Liner in Sand.

I applied my Urban Decay Supercurling Mascara to my lashes.

Lastly placed Hard Candy Baked white eyeshadow on my brow bone and inner corner.

Then I did something not so smart I placed LA Colors Jumbo Eye Pencil in Sea Shells (matte white) on my waterline.

This caused my eyes to water and my vision to become blurry. Not so smart. I guess these aren't good for the waterline. The NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk on the other hand has never given me any problems when applied to the waterline.

Of course I had to try and touch up my makeup so I could take pictures. Sheesh life is rough :)

So what do you think of Pastel makeup? It seems to be trending right now.
